Improved Shape-Finding Method and Parametric Study for Designing Asymmetric Suspension Bridges in Mountainous Terrain

نویسندگان

چکیده

The suspension bridges in mountainous areas are commonly designed with asymmetrical overall layouts to match the terrain and construction under limited space. However, effects influences of asymmetry parameters on bridge performance have yet be thoroughly investigated. To address this gap, based a real-world main span length 700 m, paper first presents an improved shape-finding method that can fully consider components hanger forces each step. In iterative process, shape cable is determined equilibrium equations, calculated through nonlinear finite element analysis. After deciding bridge’s initial state, parameters’ carefully investigated analysis static seismic conditions. Results show side-to-span ratio tower’s stiffness affect horizontally constrained stiffness, resulting distinct behavior. Moreover, reasonably designing dampers between tower girder beneficial minimizing longitudinal displacement controlling moment situations.

A Non-parametric Form-Finding Method for Designing Membrane Structure

In this paper, we present a non-parametric form-finding method for designing the minimal surface, or the uniformly tensioned surface of membrane structures with arbitrary specified boundaries. The area minimization problems are formulated as distributed-parameter shape optimization problems, and solved numerically. The internal volume or the perimeter is added as the constraints according to th...

A Parametric Study: Frame Analysis Method for Masonry Arch Bridges

The predictability of masonry arch bridges and their behaviour is widely considered doubtful due to the lack of knowledge about the conditions of a given masonry arch bridge. The assessment methods for masonry arch bridges are MEXE, ARCHIE, RING and Frame Analysis Method. The material properties of the masonry and fill material are extremely difficult to determine accurately. Consequently, it i...

Expressive Rendering of Mountainous Terrain

Painters and cartographers have developed artistic landscape rendering techniques for centuries. Such renderings can visualize complex three-dimensional landscapes in a pleasing and understandable way. In this work we examine a particular type of artistic depiction, panorama maps, in terms of function and style, and we develop methods to automatically generate panorama map reminiscent rendering...

An improved tropospheric NO2 retrieval for OMI observations in the vicinity of mountainous terrain

We present an approach to reduce topographyrelated errors of vertical tropospheric columns (VTC) of NO2 retrieved from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) in the vicinity of mountainous terrain. This is crucial for reliable estimates of air pollution levels over our particular area of interest, the Alpine region and the adjacent planes, where the Dutch OMI NO2 product (DOMINO) exhibits signif...

A Branch and Bound Method for Finding Flow Path Designing of Agv Systems (RESEARCH NOTE)

One of the important factor in the design of automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS) is the flow path design. This paper presents a branch-and-bound algorithm to determining the flow path by considering not only loaded-vehicles, but also empty-vehicles. The objective is to find the flow path, which will minimize total travel of loaded vehicles. We know that in branch-and-bound method a branch c...
